Kenneth I. Chenault, born on June 2, 1951, in Mineola, New York, is a prominent business executive and former CEO of American Express. Chenault attended the Waldorf School, where he was senior class president, and later earned a B.A. in history from Bowdoin College in 1973 and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1976. He began his career as an associate at the law firm Rogers & Wells and later served as a consultant for Bain & Company. Chenault joined American Express in 1981 and rose through the ranks, becoming CEO in 2001.

Under his leadership, American Express built one of the world's largest customer loyalty programs, Membership Rewards. Chenault left American Express in 2018 and joined General Catalyst Partners as chairman and managing director. He has also served on the boards of numerous organizations, including The Business Council, NYU Langone Health, Airbnb, Facebook, IBM, The Procter & Gamble Company, the Harvard Corporation, Berkshire Hathaway, and the NCAA.
